Young volunteers from Youxian No. 1 Middle School visited Hunan Yamei Tea Oil Company: Immersive learning helps rural revitalization practice
In order to deepen the concept of labor education and promote students to understand the development of local industries, recently, Youxian No. 1 Middle School in Hunan Province organized young volunteer students to go to Hunan Yamei Camellia Oil Co., Ltd. to carry out a unique "industry-education integration" practical learning activity. The students went deep into the factory workshops and camellia oleifera planting bases of the company, and through observation, experience and communication, they felt the modernization transformation of the traditional camellia oil industry up close, and helped the practical exploration of rural revitalization.
Immersive experience: From workshop to base, explore the camellia oil industry chain
In the intelligent production workshop of Yamei Camellia Oil Company, students followed the explanation of the company's technical staff and observed the whole process of camellia oil from raw material screening, low-temperature pressing, refining and filling to quality inspection. Through the transparent production line, students intuitively understand how technology empowers traditional crafts. "It turns out that a drop of camellia oil needs to go through so many strict processes!" A volunteer exclaimed. The company also set up an interactive session to allow students to participate in simple quality inspection experiments and understand the importance of standardized production to food safety.

Afterwards, the team went to the company's planting demonstration base. The branches are full of heavy tea-oil fruits. Under the guidance of agricultural technicians, the students put on gloves and carried bamboo baskets. They learned to identify ripe fruits and master the skills of "picking and placing gently", and personally experienced the farming wisdom and joy of harvest of "spring flowers and autumn fruits".
Industry-university linkage: win-win situation of corporate social responsibility and educational value
As a leading local agricultural enterprise, Hunan Yamei Camellia Oil has long been committed to promoting the coordinated development of the camellia oleifera industry and the rural economy. During this event, the company's head introduced to the students how the company has driven the surrounding farmers' income through the "company + cooperative + farmer" model, and expanded sales channels based on e-commerce platforms. "Camellia oil is not only a healthy product, but also a 'golden fruit' for the villagers to get rich." The company representative said that opening factories and bases for students to practice is aimed at cultivating young people's sense of identity with local industries and injecting vitality into the future rural talent pool.
The team leader of Youxian No. 1 Middle School emphasized that the event is an important part of the school's "Walking Classroom" series of practices: "We hope that students will jump out of textbooks and understand national strategies in the social classroom. By contacting front-line production, they can more truly realize the close relationship between technological innovation, ecological protection and industrial revitalization."
Harvest from practice: Planting the seeds of loving the hometown and serving the society
After the activity, students completed the research report in groups, and proposed creative solutions for camellia oil brand promotion and rural tourism integration based on what they saw and felt. Many students said that this activity refreshed their stereotypes of agriculture as "earthy, hard, and tiring", and instead saw the technological charm of smart agriculture and the broad prospects for rural development. "In the future, I want to study agriculture and forestry and use new technologies to help upgrade the industries in my hometown!" A high school student said firmly.
Youxian No. 1 Middle School also plans to build an off-campus practice base with Yamei Camellia Oil to normalize such activities and expand them to wider fields such as product design and marketing planning, further opening up the interconnection channel between education and industrial resources.
This "workshop + field" practical class not only allowed young students to experience the modern transformation of traditional industries, but also planted the seeds of taking root in their hometowns and serving the society in their hearts. As more and more schools and enterprises join hands to explore new paths for the integration of industry and education, the picture of education empowering rural revitalization is slowly unfolding.
